2000 GUINEAS 1876

The 68th winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Wednesday 3rd May 1876 over the Rowley Mile, was Petrarch (20/1), a bay colt by Lord Clifden out of Laura, owned by Viscount Dupplin. The winner won by 3 lengths in 1 minute 52 secs, with 1 1/2 lengths between second and third. A field of 14 runners contested the race which was worth £4,100 (Equivalent to £434,600 in 2017)
